A bod yn hollol onest, bu Nant yn ffodus i ennill y gêm hon gyda phwynt bonws. Ond, ni ellir ond canmol yr ysbryd diddiwedd yr holl garfan gan nad ydynt yn gwybod pryd y maent wedi’u trechu. Torrodd Ifan trwy fwlch yn y munud cyntaf un i sgorio cais ar y chwith ond methwyd y trosiad. Cis gosb lwyddiannus i’r Wyddgrug ar ôl 4 munud. Yn wir, canolwr yr Wyddgrug, Daniel Edmonds a sgoriodd eu holl bwyntiau yn ystod y gêm. Sgoriodd gais a throsiad cyn pen hanner awr. Ond bum munud cyn yr hanner ar un o’u hymweliadau prin a rhanbarth y gwrthwynebwyr, cafodd Nant sgrym hynod gryf a thiriodd Carwyn wrth ymyl y pyst. Trosiad hawdd i Llywarch i wneud y sgôr yn 10 - 12 hanner ffordd.
Tri munud i mewn i’r ail hanner a chic gosb lwyddiannus arall i Llywarch. Tair cic gosb lwyddiannus tros yr 20 munud nesaf i’r Wyddgrug yn gwneud y sgôr yn 19 - 15 i’r tîm cartref gyda dau funud yn weddill gyda sgrym Nant dan gryn bwysau drwy’r hanner. Yna, yn dilyn cic i lawr y cae gan Rhys a ddilynwyd yn ddeheuig gan yr holl dîm , pasiwyd y bel yn ôl ag ymlaen ger y llinell gartref a llwyddodd Eryl i blymio trosodd dan y pyst. Tasg hawdd oedd i Llywarch i drosi i wneud sgôr o 19 - 22 ar ôl 80 munud.
Tri munud ychwanegol oedd i chwarae meddai’r dyfarnwr ac yn lle eistedd ar eu blaenoriaeth, penderfynodd Nant ddilyn yr un dacteg ag a ddaeth a’r trydydd cais iddynt. Digwyddodd yr union yr un peth eto gyda’r canolwr Daniel yn torri ar ongl hyfryd gan adael tri amddiffynnwr ar lawr. Cais trosiadwy o dan y pyst a phwynt bonws annisgwyl i Nant.
Ymlaen yn awr i chwarae Pwllheli gartref yn y gynghrair o dan oleuadau nos Iau nesaf.
To be absolutely honest, Nant were fortunate to win this match with a bonus point. But, the ‘never say die’ spirit of the squad can only be complimented. In the first minute, Ifan broke through the Mold defence to score a try in the left hand side corner. Llywarch missed the conversion attempt. After four minutes, Mold’s no.12, Daniel Edmonds reduced the deficit with a penalty. Indeed, Daniel scored all of Mold’s 19 points during the match. Before the half hour mark he had scored a converted try. But, five minutes before the interval at one of their rare visits to their opponents’ half, Nant scrummaged powerfully by the Mold line and Carwyn touched down by the posts. Llywarch duly converted to make the score 10 – 12 at the break.
Three minutes into the second half, Llywarch was successful again with a penalty kick.
Three more successful penalties for Mold over the next twenty minutes made the score 19 – 15 to the home side with Nant’s pack under continious pressure. There were only two minutes of regular time left when Rhys kicked a long ball down the touchline and the entire team showed their fitness by running at pace after it. The ball was won in the ruck and passed to the left and then to the right before, Eryl managed to touch down in between the posts. A successful conversion by Llywarch to make the score 19-22 after 80 miutes. At the restart, the referee indicated there were 3 more minutes to play. Rather than sit on their lead, Nant tried the same tactic again with a long down field kick. The same kind of movement occurred ending with Nant’s Centre, Daniel splitting the defensive line on a superb angle leaving three defenders on their back sides. He scored the bonus point try under the posts and Llywarch duly converted.
On now to the next league match which will be played at home under floodlights next Thursday evening.
