Colwyn Bay 9 - 13 COBRA
COBRA came away from Colwyn Bay with a 4 point advantage to take into the 2nd leg of the cup tie.
COBRA held the upper hand for the entire first half and heaped pressure on Colwyn Bay, but were contentiously denied tries on four occasions when they had seemingly broke the deadlock. COBRA eventually took the lead through a Penalty from the boot of Outside half Geraint Williams, Colwyn Bay responded with a Penalty as the half drew to a close to leave the scoreline tied at 3-3.
COBRA took the lead early in the 2nd half as scrum half Iwan Vaughan took a tap Penalty and with Colwyn Bay retreating the backs found space for wing Ifan Evans to score. COBRA played 20 minutes of the 2nd half with 14 men as ill discipline resulted in 2 players receiving Yellow Cards. During this period Colwyn Bay had their best period of the game and scored 2 penalty goals giving them a 9 - 8 lead. COBRA responded immediately to going behind with a well worked try as Geraint Williams broke the line and from the resulting ruck the ball was fed wide for wing Wyn Astley to score in the corner. The conversion attempt went wide leaving the final score 9-13.
