A RUGBY club is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
Shotton Steel RFC was founded in 1970 and is marking the occasion with a
day of events, reunions and celebrations.
The club has gone through a number of changes over the years and is
inviting anyone who has been involved past and present to be part of the
day.
A special match will be held in memory of the club’s late president Paul
‘Mad Dog’ Williams which will see club members under 30-years of age pitted
against those over 30.
All proceeds raised from the game will be donated to Macmillan and Marie
Curie charities for the care and attention they gave to Paul.
In the evening there will be a buffet and disco.
Further events for the day will be announced closer to the time.
Organisers are also asking if anyone has any photographs or memories of
playing for the club to help out by getting in touch and sharing
information for use on the day.
Shotton Steel RFC’s 40th Anniversary celebrations will take place at the
clubhouse on Rowley’s Drive, Shotton on April 17.
Kick-off for the charity match is 2.30pm.
Tickets are priced £10 and are available by calling Alan Leamon on 07748
963425 or 01244 830193, Trevor Knowles on 07851 059313, or Andy Lynskey
