14.11.09 Match Report Cobra v Rhuthun
Ruthin started the second leg of this North Wales Cup game at COBRA 10 points up from the first leg. The Blues were playing with a strong wind behind them and after dominating the first period of the game went ahead with a try by scrum half Wil Davies. Ruthin had the majority of possession and territory and the home team were conceding penalties in their attempts to keep Ruthin away from the try line. Ruthin’s back row were playing well with a particularly good performance from No 8 Marc Lloyd. Fly half Adam Robson kicked two penalty goals and at half time Ruthin were 11-0 ahead. After the break Ruthin continued aggressively for the first few minutes and this led to a try by wing Huw Parry which was not converted. Although 26 points behind on aggregate COBRA were still playing with purpose and after about 15 minutes into the second half scored a pushover try which they converted. The last twenty minutes of the game was a bit of a dog fight in the middle of the park with Ruthin defending well against the COBRA attack. The game ended with no further score at 16-7 to Ruthin and 31-12 on aggregate. This was a controlled Ruthin performance against a good COBRA side.
