Bethesda take a slender lead of three points to the second leg at Dol Ddafydd on the Thursday 26 November after a very tight game at Y Waun on Saturday After a fiery start by Rhyl Bethesda were on the back foot and defended sternly. Rhyl took the lead with a penalty after 15 minutes But Bethesda were first to cross the try with a Gwyn Hughes try after a spilt ball in the tackle. Both sides missed kickable penalties in the gusty conditions Mathew parry increased Bethesda’s lead with a penalty Rhyl came back to even things up when the forwards charged over to make the score 8 8 at half time. Second half was of similar pattern but Bethesda had more scoring chances. A solitary penalty by Parry in the dying minutes gave Bethesda the win but this contest is not over Bethesda will have to be more clinical at home if they are to make the next round.
